Emily Sholder is the founder and principal designer of Emhome Designs, a residential design studio focused on creating thoughtful, timeless homes that balance beauty, function, and lasting value. With over 12 years of experience as a licensed architect in Washington, DC, Emily brings technical expertise, creative vision, and a deep understanding of how people truly live in their homes.
Emily believes that exceptional design begins with listening. Whether she's reimagining an existing home, designing a renovation, or guiding clients through finish selections, her approach is collaborative, detail-oriented, and tailored to each client's lifestyle. She has a passion for uncovering a home's hidden potential -transforming challenging layouts into spaces that feel effortless, functional, and uniquely personal.
What sets Emily apart is her ability to bridge the worlds of architecture, interior design, and real estate. In addition to leading Emhome Designs, she is a REALTOR® with TTR Sotheby's International Realty, giving her clients valuable insight into how thoughtful design decisions can enhance both everyday living and long-term property value. Whether preparing a home for sale, evaluating renovation opportunities before a purchase, or designing a forever home, Emily helps clients make confident, informed decisions from every angle.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Emily has lived throughout the Washington metropolitan area, including Capitol Hill and Adams Morgan, where she completed a hands-on co-op renovation before settling in Silver Spring. She draws inspiration from historic architecture, European design, and the character found in homes that tell a story. Outside of work, you'll find her exploring local restaurants, cooking for family and friends, or spending time with her miniature Australian Labradoodle, Rhubarb.
At Emhome Designs, Emily's mission is simple: to create homes that feel deeply personal, beautifully crafted, and designed to enrich everyday life.
